UNY Brings Javanese Heritage to Life Through the Inspiring Ketoprak Performance "Satyakarta Sudarsana"

To celebrate its 61st anniversary, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) brought the rich tradition of Javanese theater to the stage with a stunning performance of “Satyakarta Sudarsana.” Held at the Performance Hall of the Faculty of Language, Arts, and Culture (FBSB) on May 7, 2025, the Ketoprak play was performed by UNY students from the Faculty of Language, Arts, and Culture and the Faculty of Engineering.

Bangsring – Banyuwangi Underwater Clean up

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, a number of students from the Department of Biology Education - Yogyakarta State University traveled to Bangsring-Banyuwangi, in order to conduct field studies and collect marine data in the coastal waters of Banyuwangi - Bali Strait and Tabuhan Island. Assisted by colleagues from Banyuwangi Diving School, students collected a number of data for research studies on coral reefs and reef fish.

Empowering Communities Through Maggot-Based Composting: UNY Trains Guwosari Residents on Sustainable Waste Management

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has taken a proactive role in addressing household organic waste issues by conducting a training and mentoring program on compost production using maggots as added value. Held on Saturday, 28 September 2024, at the home of the Iroyudan hamlet head in Guwosari Village, Pajangan Subdistrict, Bantul Regency, the event was attended by 25 participants. The program aimed to provide practical solutions for managing daily organic waste, while also empowering local residents with skills that hold economic potential.
 

Garuda UNY achievements in developing fuel-efficient vehicles at Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2024

UNY actively encourages the development of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient vehicles. One way to objectively measure the value of these innovations is through participation in various competitions. One of the competitions is Shell Eco-Marathon. UNY has consistently participated in this competition since 2018. 
 

Food processing innovation: biscuit made of tempe

To strengthen food security, UNY encourages various innovative efforts in processing various alternative food ingredients. Five UNY students consisting of Siti Nursipa Wulida (Culinary Education); Nur Evirda Khosyiati (Culinary Education); Rifki Refiyandi (Elementary School Teacher Education); Putri A. Panggabean (Accounting); and Syifaun Nuha A (Management) successfully developed tempe-based biscuits for toddlers named Bistbox.
