Collaboration to Preserve Dayak Culinary Traditions

A collaboration between the Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and the Education and Culture Office of North Kalimantan Province has resulted in the publication of a book highlighting the unique culinary traditions of the Dayak community. The book is an outcome of extensive ethnographic research aimed at documenting and preserving the culinary heritage of the Dayak people, which holds a significant place in their cultural identity.
 

Garuda UNY achievements in developing fuel-efficient vehicles at Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2024

UNY actively encourages the development of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient vehicles. One way to objectively measure the value of these innovations is through participation in various competitions. One of the competitions is Shell Eco-Marathon. UNY has consistently participated in this competition since 2018. 
 

Food processing innovation: biscuit made of tempe

To strengthen food security, UNY encourages various innovative efforts in processing various alternative food ingredients. Five UNY students consisting of Siti Nursipa Wulida (Culinary Education); Nur Evirda Khosyiati (Culinary Education); Rifki Refiyandi (Elementary School Teacher Education); Putri A. Panggabean (Accounting); and Syifaun Nuha A (Management) successfully developed tempe-based biscuits for toddlers named Bistbox.

Strengthening the capacity of expertise in tropical biology through FMN OCELOTS

Rio Christy Handziko, S.Pd.Si., M.Pd, a lecturer at the Department of Biology Education of UNY, participated in the Faculty Mentoring Network - Online Content for Experiential Learning of Tropical Systems (FMN - OCELOTS) 2024. Rio Christy has been teaching courses related to tropical ecology and researching intensively in the field of Tropical Ecology.

Monitoring the growth of coral reefs and reef fish communities in Bangsring and Karimunjawa waters.

Bangsring is a tourist destination on Java Island's east coast, bordering immediately with the Bali Strait. This place is referred to as Bunder, which means Bangsring Underwater. This tourism destination grew from a marine protected area (MPA) run by the Bangsring fishing community. The floating house manned by fellow Bangsring fisherman serves as a coral fish acclimation pool before they are discharged. Typically used as a preparation pool for both white-tip and black-tip reef shark species.
