Students of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Create Light Trap Insect, an Environmentally Friendly Solution to Control Agricultural Pests

Three students from UNY have created an eco-friendly innovation to help farmers control pests effectively without relying on chemical pesticides.

Through the 2025 Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, the team—consisting of Ihsan Muchlis Amirudin, Afwa Naela Fauzia, and Rose Pita Nur Afifah—developed a device called the Light Trap Insect (LTI). The LTI is a solar-powered automatic pest trap that supports sustainable agriculture.

UNY Students Present “SmartCleaner”: A Solar-Powered Innovation for Sustainable Livestock Farming

Students at UNY once again demonstrated their role in delivering real solutions for society. Through the Student Creativity Programme – Application of Science & Technology (PKM-PI), a student team introduced “SmartCleaner: Solar-Powered Cleaning System & Ammonia Monitoring”, to assist the farmers’ group “Kelompok Tani Ngudi Makmur” in Gunung Manuk Village, Patuk District, Gunungkidul.

The innovation emerged from concerns over a classic issue faced by cattle farmers: the barn is difficult to clean regularly and high levels of ammonia gas pose danger to the livestock.

UNY COMPLETES THE 2024 ENERGY AUDIT REPORT

The purpose of an energy audit is to identify, measure, and evaluate energy usage within facilities or systems—such as buildings and campus infrastructure—in order to uncover potential savings and enhance energy efficiency. The primary function of an energy audit is to provide clear information about energy consumption patterns and to identify areas where energy savings can be achieved without compromising productivity or comfort.

Garuda UNY achievements in developing fuel-efficient vehicles at Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2024

UNY actively encourages the development of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient vehicles. One way to objectively measure the value of these innovations is through participation in various competitions. One of the competitions is Shell Eco-Marathon. UNY has consistently participated in this competition since 2018.
