UNY’s KKNRD028 Team and the Department of Sociology Education Instill GEDSI Values Through Political Education

A research team from the Department of Sociology Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), in collaboration with KKN group KKNRD028, implemented a program to strengthen political literacy based on GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) in the community of Kanigoro Hamlet, Saptosari, Gunungkidul.

The activity, held at the Kanigoro Hamlet Hall, aims to cultivate an understanding of politics that is equal, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of marginalized groups.

A community service group from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), KKNM-27533 from the Sociology Education Study Programme, carried out inclusive political education (GEDSI-perspective: Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) for 25 PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) mothers from RT 1, 2 and 3 in Dusun Dukuh, Madurejo Village, Prambanan Sub-district, Sleman Regency.

Not every journey to university starts with an easy step. For Dhiva Angger Sakhena, a student from Sukorejo (Tugu, Trenggalek), the path to Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) actually began with a period of waiting and long struggle. After failing his first attempt to enter tertiary education, Dhiva decided to take a gap year. But he didn’t fill that year with sorrow — instead, he dedicated himself socially. He taught English to children in his village — an initiative he designed himself, as a form of responsibility and service to his community.

97th Youth Pledge Ceremony Wears Traditional Attire, Implementation of Youth Congress from Various Tribes

On Tuesday, 28 October 2025, UNY held a ceremony in commemoration of the 97th Youth Pledge Day at the rectorate courtyard, with solemnity and order.

With the theme “Young Men and Women Move, United Indonesia”, UNY reaffirmed its commitment to continue moving toward a diverse Indonesia in unity.

This commitment was visible in the clothing worn by the ceremony participants, which consisted of various ethnic groups. This is one way to demonstrate that the Youth Pledge was attended by many organizations and unities—not just Jong Java or Jong Celebes alone.

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), in collaboration with the Indonesian Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), organized a National Seminar titled “Pancasila Literacy and the Revival of the Republic” on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the UNY Postgraduate Building.

A team of students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has successfully advanced in the Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa Riset Sosial Humaniora (PKM-RSH) organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Their research, titled “Eksplorasi Internalisasi Falsafah Tutur, Uwur, Sembur dalam Budaya Sekolah Muhammadiyah untuk Penguatan Tata Krama Berbahasa Generasi Alpha”, explores the internalization of the Javanese philosophy of Tutur, Uwur, Sembur to strengthen language etiquette among Generation Alpha.
