UNY Opens New Horizons with Indonesia’s First Master’s Program in Educational Policy

Breaking new ground in Indonesia’s educational landscape, the Faculty of Education and Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FIPP UNY) has officially launched the Master’s Program in Educational Policy. As the first and only program of its kind in the country, this initiative is a testament to UNY’s commitment to addressing the complexities of education through well-crafted policies that promote equity and sustainability.
 
The program was inaugurated during a celebratory event at the Moh Amien Building, where esteemed academicians gathered to mark the occasion. Among the speakers was Prof. Dr. Arismunandar, M.Pd., from Universitas Negeri Makassar, who lauded the program’s vision. He emphasized its transformative potential, not only within Indonesia but on a global scale, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and its focus on inclusive education policies.
 
"This is a monumental step," Prof. Arismunandar remarked. "The program is set to make meaningful contributions to policy innovation, particularly in inclusive and special education."
 
The event also featured the handover of the accreditation document, marking the program’s readiness to achieve top-tier recognition. This moment was officiated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khafid, M.Si., QIA., from Universitas Negeri Semarang, who expressed confidence in the program's foundational strength.
 
The program is tailored for aspiring leaders and education practitioners aiming to address pressing challenges in Indonesia's education sector. Dean of FIPP UNY, Prof. Dr. Nurtanio Agus Purwanto, M.Pd., expressed his aspirations for the program, underlining its innovative approach:
"This program is not just an academic offering; it’s a movement toward educational transformation. We are committed to equipping students with the skills to create policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of society."
