Scholarship Recipients Lead Mangrove Conservation Project in Baros, Bantul

A group of students receiving the Bintang Mandiri Scholarship initiated a social project focused on mangrove conservation titled “Green Coast Baros” in the Baros Mangrove Forest area, located in Tirtohargo, Kretek, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The initiative was carried out by awardees of the 5th cohort of the Bintang Mandiri Scholarship from Bank Mandiri, as part of their contribution to preserving coastal ecosystems while also empowering local communities.

UNY Plants Hope Through 60 Pucuk Merah Saplings in Seuneubok Village, Aceh

Students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN) carried out an environmental restoration initiative by planting 60 pucuk merah (Syzygium oleina) saplings in Seuneubok Village, Bendahara District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.

The activity was conducted as part of post-flood recovery efforts in the area, where environmental damage had affected vegetation and residential surroundings. The tree-planting initiative also followed directives from the village leadership to support greening and ecological restoration programs.

UNY KKN Students Hold Eco Enzyme Making Training in Punukan, Wates, Kulonprogo

Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a training session on making eco enzyme for the local community in Punukan Hamlet, Wates, Kulonprogo Regency. The activity focused on teaching residents how to turn organic household waste into eco enzyme, a natural and environmentally friendly product with many practical uses.

The KKNM 25219 Punukan team consisted of several students who actively guided villagers through the process of preparing eco enzyme using simple materials commonly found around the home.

Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN-M) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta carried out a community empowerment program by introducing natural insecticide incense and botanical pesticides in Padukuhan Sembung, Purwobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The program aimed to offer environmentally friendly solutions for insect and crop pest control using local natural materials.

Sobat Bumi UNY Plants Mangroves at Baros Beach, Bantul to Boost Coastal Environmental Awareness

On December 21, 2025, Sobat Bumi UNY — a student environmental community from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) — carried out a mangrove planting activity at Baros Beach in Bantul Regency. The event was part of UNY’s commitment to preserving coastal ecosystems and raising environmental awareness among students and the wider public.

About 60 participants took part in the mangrove planting initiative, including UNY students, high school students, members of the 4K Yogyakarta community, Relawan Gesit Yogyakarta, Komunitas Mangrove Baros, and volunteers from various universities.

UNY Biology Education Students Conduct Field Study on Environmental Science and Natural Resource Conservation in Girimulyo, Kulon Progo

The Biology Education Study Program of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a field study on Environmental Science and Natural Resource Conservation in Girimulyo Sub-district, Kulon Progo, specifically in Gunung Kelir Hamlet, Jatimulyo Village, and Tegalsari Hamlet, Purwosari Village. The activity was carried out over two days and one night and was attended by 88 students, accompanied by two course lecturers.
