Waste management has become an urgent issue in many major cities, including Yogyakarta. To help address this problem, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) through the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) has taken part by organizing a creative recycling program.

The Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa) PKM Center FMIPA Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a workshop on transforming organic waste into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) at the Balai Desa Barukan, Kecamatan Manisrenggo, Klaten. The event, held recently, was attended by approximately 50 participants, including students, student organization representatives, accompanying lecturers, and farmer groups from Desa Barukan.

In the midst of the growing coffee beverage trend among young people, a group of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) students has successfully introduced a unique innovation that combines the rich taste of coffee with the health benefits of moringa leaves. They named this product Kelopi on Wheels, a brand born from the entrepreneurial spirit of students through the 2025 P2MW Funding Program.

Six students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have successfully completed their international teaching practice (Program Pengalaman Lapangan or PK) at Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok (SIB), Thailand. The program, held from August 2 to September 2, 2025, aimed to provide students with real-world teaching experience in an international setting.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) collaborated with the University of Exeter, UK, to organize an international webinar themed Inclusive Education and Disability Support in Higher Education. This event served as an important forum for academics, practitioners, and students to exchange experiences regarding the strengthening of disability services and inclusive education in higher education institutions.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held the Welcoming Ceremony and Orientation for International Students 2025 as an initial step to welcome 24 new students from various countries. The event was solemnly attended by university leaders, deans, directors of graduate programs, heads of units, and student buddies who are ready to assist international students during their studies at UNY.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) students participating in the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Ngadiwulan, Sumowono, Kaligesing, Purworejo, introduced an innovative product: herbal jelly made from Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA), or Family Medicinal Plants. This initiative aims to modernize traditional herbal medicine, making it more appealing and accessible, especially to the younger generation.

Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNY, through the Student Creativity Program (PKM), conducted a research titled “Gel Nano-Hydroxyapatite (n-HAp) Based on Tiger Snail Shells: Biocomposite Innovation Kurma Ajwa / Siwak / Propolis for Enamel Remineralisation of Teeth”. They developed this innovation in dental health by utilising waste tiger snail shells (cangkang keong macan) as a base material for the production of nano-hydroxyapatite gel (n-HAp).

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta officially inaugurated five new professors in a formal ceremony held in the Main Meeting Room of the Rectorate.

The inauguration is expected to strengthen the university’s contribution in the fields of science, education, and technology, as well as act as a driver of innovation to answer the challenges of our times.

In order to increase community awareness of the importance of organic waste management, a team of students on the Community Service Program (KKN) from UNY carried out an educational activity in Dusun Druju, Desa Margodadi. This activity took place at the home of Mrs Umi (RT 04), who fully supported the implementation of this program.
