Seuneubok Aceh Rebuilds: Planting Trees to Restore Hope on Disaster-Affected Land

Residents of Seuneubok in Aceh are taking meaningful steps toward recovery by planting trees on land affected by disaster. The initiative involves students participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN Kemanusiaan) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta who work together with the local community to restore damaged land and rebuild environmental sustainability.
The tree-planting activity was carried out as part of efforts to rehabilitate areas that had been impacted by flooding. By planting various types of trees, the community hopes to restore soil fertility, prevent further environmental damage, and create a greener landscape that will benefit future generations.
Beyond environmental restoration, the activity also serves as a symbol of collective hope and resilience. Students and residents worked side by side preparing the land, planting seedlings, and nurturing the newly planted trees. This collaboration reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation in rebuilding communities after disasters.
The involvement of UNY students in this program demonstrates the role of universities in contributing to community recovery through education, environmental awareness, and direct action in the field. Through initiatives such as tree planting and environmental rehabilitation, the program aims to support sustainable development and strengthen community resilience.
