Yes, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has a carbon reduction target that covers Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by no later than 2050. This commitment reflects the university’s support for long-term climate action and its efforts to reduce direct emissions from institutional operations as well as indirect emissions from purchased electricity. Through its sustainability and Green Campus initiatives, UNY is committed to gradually strengthening energy efficiency, responsible resource management, and low-carbon practices in line with national and global sustainability goals.

14 Additional Information Additional Does your institution provide mandatory annual dedicated training on Social aspects of Sustainability?

UNY has a strong commitment to environmental sustainability through structured and sustainable training programs within the framework of a Green Campus. In accordance with the Peraturan Rektor UNY Nomor 16 Tahun 2021, which concerning the Green Campus, which serves as the basis for environmental sustainability policies at UNY. The implementation of the policy is carried out regularly through workshops, academic programs, and community service involving lecturers and students. For example, Since 2021 until 2025, UNY has consistently implemented a program for applying Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles as part of the institution's commitment to creating a safe and sustainable work environment. These activities are carried out regularly thru socialization, training, and preparedness simulations involving the academic community. Through this, UNY ensures the creation of an integrated safety culture in campus activities, while also supporting sustainability principles in the protection of humans and the environment. In addition, SDG-based training is also conducted thru community service activities, such as training in the production of natural pesticides and sustainable farming practices. This is done as an effort to enhance the competence of lecturers and students in improving their knowledge and skills regarding sustainability, while also providing direct practice in the community to create a sustainable impact.
