UNY Humanitarian KKN Students Collaborate to Green Seuneubok Aceh by Planting 60 Pucuk Merah

Students participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN Kemanusiaan) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) carried out a greening initiative in Seuneubok Aceh by planting 60 pucuk merah plants together with local residents. The activity was part of environmental recovery efforts following the floods that previously affected several areas in Aceh Tamiang.
The planting program was conducted collaboratively, involving KKN students and members of the local community. Through this initiative, participants aimed to improve the environmental quality of the village while strengthening public awareness about the importance of maintaining green spaces.
Pucuk merah plants were chosen because they are easy to cultivate and suitable for beautifying the surrounding environment. Besides enhancing the visual landscape, the plants also contribute to improving environmental conditions and supporting sustainable green areas in the village.
The activity also served as a platform to strengthen cooperation between students and residents. By working together in planting and maintaining the trees, both parties shared responsibility in creating a greener and healthier living environment. The program reflects the spirit of community engagement promoted through the Humanitarian KKN initiative.
Humanitarian KKN itself is a collaborative community service program involving several universities aimed at supporting post-disaster recovery efforts in Aceh. Through environmental activities such as tree planting, students contribute directly to restoring ecological conditions while encouraging community participation in environmental stewardship. The presence of university students in disaster-affected areas is expected to bring positive impacts, both socially and environmentally, for local communities.
