UNY COMPLETES THE 2024 ENERGY AUDIT REPORT

The purpose of an energy audit is to identify, measure, and evaluate energy usage within facilities or systems—such as buildings and campus infrastructure—in order to uncover potential savings and enhance energy efficiency. The primary function of an energy audit is to provide clear information about energy consumption patterns and to identify areas where energy savings can be achieved without compromising productivity or comfort.

The methods used in an energy audit typically include collecting data on energy consumption, conducting field surveys to inspect equipment and processes in buildings such as auditoriums or sports facilities, and analyzing the data to identify opportunities for energy savings. These techniques help in developing specific and practical recommendations, which often involve the use of energy-efficient technologies, regular equipment maintenance, and optimized operational settings. By implementing these measures, campuses can reduce energy waste and improve overall sustainability.

In 2024, UNY completed an Energy Audit Report, which is accessible  https://uny.id/reportenergi2024. This report provides comprehensive insights into energy usage, efficiency evaluations, and recommendations for energy-saving measures across the university’s facilities. The findings support UNY's commitment to sustainable energy management and continuous improvement in reducing its carbon footprint.

As an example, the buildings included in the audit encompass: • The UNY Auditorium (used for seminars, graduations, and campus events) • The UNY Sports Hall (GOR UNY, a main campus sports facility) • The various faculties such as the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Language & Arts, Faculty of Mathematics & Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Social & Political Science, and the Faculty of Health & Sports Science. • Additional facilities such as UNY Press (the university’s publishing unit, which has its own building and production facilities).

By including a wide range of key campus buildings, the energy audit at UNY does not just focus on one type of building, but considers the full spectrum of campus facilities—from educational spaces, sports facilities, to operational buildings.
