UNY Hosts the Presentation of the Bayan Peduli Education Scholarship Batch III

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) served as the host for the Batch III Presentation of the Bayan Peduli Education Scholarship for the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Thursday, January 29, 2026, held in the Main Meeting Room of the UNY Rectorate. This activity became a strategic moment to strengthen collaboration between higher education and industry in developing human resources in Indonesia.
The event was attended by UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, Vice Rectors, deans, directors, secretaries, deputy deans, and scholarship management teams from UNY, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPN Veteran), as well as Merlin, Director of PT Bayan Resources Tbk.
In his speech, Rector Prof. Sumaryanto expressed deep gratitude to PT Bayan Resources Tbk for its trust in UNY as the host of the Bayan Peduli Scholarship event. He described the company’s presence as a “flow of honey” and a wonderful blessing for higher education.
Prof. Sumaryanto further encouraged scholarship recipients to change old paradigms in their studies, saying that high-quality students are those who graduate on time with high GPA, quickly enter the workforce with decent salaries, and have short waiting times for employment.
Meanwhile, Merlin, Director of PT Bayan Resources Tbk, thanked UNY and its partner universities for their dedication in managing the Bayan Peduli Scholarship. She emphasized that Bayan Peduli is committed to jointly developing the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
Scholarship recipients included students from UNY (51 students), UPN Veteran (50 students), and UGM (40 students). These recipients were selected as the third generation of beneficiaries of the Bayan Peduli Scholarship from nine leading universities in Indonesia.
The Bayan Peduli Scholarship is granted for four academic years (eight semesters). Recipients must maintain a minimum semester GPA of 2.80 and may improve it up to three times; if they cannot complete their studies within the prescribed time, the scholarship will be terminated. Scholarship funds, including living and accommodation costs, are directly transferred to each recipient’s account; the first payment covers August 2025–January 2026 with the next disbursement at the end of February 2026.
One scholarship recipient from UNY, Afifatus Zahro, shared a touching testimony about how the scholarship helped her continue her studies despite financial hardship, giving her renewed hope and motivation to plan her future.
The event concluded with the presentation of laptops to each recipient: 51 units for UNY students, 50 for UPN Veteran students, and 40 for UGM students, as support for their learning process.
