On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) celebrated its 61st anniversary with a vibrant Fun Bike event. The event commenced at the UNY Rectorate courtyard, where approximately 400 participants—including university leaders, faculty members, students, staff, and local community members—gathered to embark on a 10-kilometer cycling route through major streets of Yogyakarta. UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO, highlighted the significance of physical health in his opening remarks, stating, “A healthy body leads to an optimal mind and spirit, ready to tackle any challenge.”
The cycling route was designed to promote not only physical well-being but also a sense of community and togetherness among participants. As cyclists navigated the streets, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and camaraderie, reflecting UNY’s commitment to fostering a healthy and united community.
Following the ride, participants gathered eagerly for the door prize announcement, which featured an array of impressive rewards. Prizes included washing machines, mountain bikes, Android TVs, and the grand prize—a two-door refrigerator. The grand prize was awarded to Wenny Pinta Litna Tarigan, a Biology Education lecturer from FMIPA, who expressed her excitement, saying, “I came here to celebrate UNY’s anniversary and enjoy a healthy bike ride, but I’m going home with a new fridge! Thank you, UNY. Happy 61st Anniversary!”
The Fun Bike event exemplified UNY’s dedication to promoting health, unity, and joy within its community. By organizing such inclusive and engaging events, the university reinforces its role not only as an educational institution but also as a hub for community well-being and social connection.
As UNY continues to celebrate its milestones, events like the Fun Bike serve as a testament to the university’s ongoing efforts to enrich the lives of its community members through health-oriented and collaborative initiatives.
