UNY partners with the Gajah Sumatra Foundation to plant trees at Bidara Beach

The Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta carried out a series of activities in Kalurahan Bugel, Kapanewon Panjatan, Kulon Progo — namely the planting of trees at Pantai Bidara on Saturday.

The tree-planting was done by the Regional Secretary’s Expert Staff of the Kulon Progo Regency, Drs. Eko Pranyoto, UNY’s Vice-Rectors and several local officials.

Maintaining Air Quality through Routine Testing

Testing of ambient air quality and stationary source emissions in the campus environment of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) is carried out routinely under the coordination of the UNY Center for Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change each semester. The testing is UNY's effort to monitor air quality on campus and the environment around the Karangmalang and Wates campuses. Regarding the stationary source emission testing, the team tested the emission level from the generator chimney.
 

UNY Efforts to Preserve Biodiversity on Campus

We can make various efforts to preserve nature while facing the threat of global climate change. One of these efforts is to carry out routine, periodic and sustainable maintenance of parks and various plants in the Green Open Space in the campus area. This routine maintenance is carried out to maintain the balance of the ecosystem and maintain the condition of Green Open Space to maintain biodiversity and provide a comfortable, cool and beautiful view on campus. Garden maintenance is also carried out on vertical gardens on campus.
 

Water Conservation through the Management of 25 Rainwater Infiltration Wells

UNY not only builds Rainwater Infiltration Wells but also conducts water measurement and management of 25 units of Rainwater Infiltration Wells in five areas around the campus. The off-campus infiltration ponds include Karangmalang, Kuningan, Mrican, Samirono, and Santren.
 

Noise Level Measurement at UNY for a Sustainable Green Campus

"UNY measures the noise level in the campus area every semester. Through this activity,, we get authentic data on noise levels so that we can monitor, design preventive efforts, and at the same time control environmental impacts that hinder the realization of green campus conditions conducive to learning and teaching activities," said Dr. Tien Aminatun, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Center for Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change UNY.
 

Beach Clean Up and Ecobric Workshop: Community Service of UNY International Students

The Faculty of Language, Arts and Culture of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta organized a social service outing for FBSB UNY International Students at Parangkusumo Beach. With the title "Beach Clean Up", this activity is a social service of beach cleaning, eco-bricking workshops and literacy-based fun activities with children around the beach.
