Six UNY Students Successfully Complete International Teaching Practice at Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok

Six students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have successfully completed their international teaching practice (Program Pengalaman Lapangan or PK) at Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok (SIB), Thailand. The program, held from August 2 to September 2, 2025, aimed to provide students with real-world teaching experience in an international setting.

FMIPA UNY Invites Children with Special Needs to Paint with Eco-Friendly Dyes

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UNY carried out a painting-workshop activity using environmentally friendly dyes at SLB Bhakti Pertiwi, Yogyakarta. The event was designed to involve children with special needs — including those with hearing impairments, speech impairments and intellectual disabilities — and was supported by a team of UNY lecturers and students.

Student with Visual Impairment from Bukittinggi Accepted at UNY, Awarded KIPK Scholarship

An inspiring story comes from Otto Wahyudi, a visually-impaired young man from Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, who successfully passed the 2025 National-Based Test Selection (SNBT) at UNY.

He was admitted to the Bachelor’s programme in Special Needs Education (PLB) at the Faculty of Education at UNY, scoring 606 on the test. Otto comes from a modest family. His father, Herison, works as a farm labourer and his mother, Reni Oktaviani, is a homemaker and the main supporter of his education. Despite economic constraints and his physical impairment, Otto’s strong spirit never diminished.

UNY Breaks Barriers with Inclusive Computer-Based Exams for Students with Disabilities

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) once again demonstrated its commitment to inclusive education during the 2025 Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK). Held at the IDB Building of the Faculty of Economics, the event featured special assistance for students with disabilities, ensuring they could participate comfortably and confidently. Strengthening Disability Services at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta

On December 20, 2023, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) took a significant step towards enhancing support for students with disabilities through the official establishment of managerial roles in its Disability Center. As per Rector’s Decree No. B/3308/UN34/KP.08.01/2023, the Disability Center now has an appointed head and secretary to oversee and develop its operations.
