Students participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN Kemanusiaan) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) carried out a greening initiative in Seuneubok Aceh by planting 60 pucuk merah plants together with local residents. The activity was part of environmental recovery efforts following the floods that previously affected several areas in Aceh Tamiang.

Residents of Seuneubok in Aceh are taking meaningful steps toward recovery by planting trees on land affected by disaster. The initiative involves students participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN Kemanusiaan) from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta who work together with the local community to restore damaged land and rebuild environmental sustainability.

Students from the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata, KKN) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) carried out a community empowerment activity by conducting training to make eco-friendly plant pots from coconut husks in Padukuhan Potrowangsan, Tirtorahayu, Galur, Kulonprogo. The program aimed to increase local awareness about using organic waste, stimulate creativity, and open local economic opportunities based on available natural potential.

Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a training session on making eco enzyme for the local community in Punukan Hamlet, Wates, Kulonprogo Regency. The activity focused on teaching residents how to turn organic household waste into eco enzyme, a natural and environmentally friendly product with many practical uses.

The KKNM 25219 Punukan team consisted of several students who actively guided villagers through the process of preparing eco enzyme using simple materials commonly found around the home.

Students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN-M) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta carried out a community empowerment program by introducing natural insecticide incense and botanical pesticides in Padukuhan Sembung, Purwobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. The program aimed to offer environmentally friendly solutions for insect and crop pest control using local natural materials.

On December 21, 2025, Sobat Bumi UNY — a student environmental community from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) — carried out a mangrove planting activity at Baros Beach in Bantul Regency. The event was part of UNY’s commitment to preserving coastal ecosystems and raising environmental awareness among students and the wider public.

About 60 participants took part in the mangrove planting initiative, including UNY students, high school students, members of the 4K Yogyakarta community, Relawan Gesit Yogyakarta, Komunitas Mangrove Baros, and volunteers from various universities.

On December 16, 2025, students from the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) organized a community training on ecoprint for residents of Padukuhan Turgogede, Kalurahan Harjobinangun, Pakem District, Sleman Regency. This activity was part of their community empowerment efforts, focusing on strengthening local creative skills using natural resources and environmentally sustainable principles.

The Biology Education Study Program of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a field study on Environmental Science and Natural Resource Conservation in Girimulyo Sub-district, Kulon Progo, specifically in Gunung Kelir Hamlet, Jatimulyo Village, and Tegalsari Hamlet, Purwosari Village. The activity was carried out over two days and one night and was attended by 88 students, accompanied by two course lecturers.

The UNY 2025 KKN-M Kependidikan Team 23928 organized a vermicomposting training program in Singgelo Hamlet, Poncosari Village, Srandakan Sub-district, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The activity featured Sujoko Slamet, an expert in organic agriculture and integrated farming, who shared insights on waste management strategies while improving soil fertility.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) students Tannaya Viratama Anjani, Fatya Alifah Zahra and Andre Amaral Zein Ulhaq, through the course Sustainable Development Education, recently carried out a reforestation and outreach program titled “Forest Restoration for Increasing Biodiversity” in Desa Kalitengkek, Kecamatan Gebang, Kabupaten Purworejo, Central Java.
