UNY Garuda Team Proves Innovation Consistency Again, Wins 1st Place in KMHE 2025

The UNY Garuda Team once again recorded a proud achievement on the national stage. In the Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi KMHE 2025 held at Universitas Jember from 23–26 October 2025, the Garuda UNY Team won 1st place in the “Urban Concept Internal Combustion Engine (MPD) – Gasoline” category, and 2nd place in the “Urban Concept MPD – Ethanol” category.

This achievement further confirms UNY’s consistent innovation in energy-efficient vehicle technology that is environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Students at UNY Develop AR Flash Cards Based on the Nyabuk Gunung Tradition for Disaster-Mitigation Education

A team of students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have successfully initiated an educational innovation in the form of augmented-reality (AR) flash cards based on the tradition of Nyabuk Gunung to enhance children’s understanding of landslide-disaster mitigation. This innovation is the result of a research scheme under the Student Creativity Programme for Social-Humanities Research (PKM-RSH) funded by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a green and sustainable campus. Through the Directorate of Infrastructure, Facilities, and Assets, UNY has installed a new Smart Water Station (SWS) at the Faculty of Law (FH) UNY. This facility serves as an environmentally friendly drinking water refill station that supports the reduction of single-use plastic bottle consumption on campus.

UNY Plants Mangrove Trees at Mendit Beach, Kulon Progo, Supporting SDGs and UI GreenMetric

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by planting mangrove trees along the coastal area of Pasir Mendit Beach in Jangkaran, Temon, Kulon Progo, on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

This initiative is part of UNY's ongoing efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land), as well as to contribute to the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, which assesses universities' commitment to sustainability.

Empowering Waste into Beauty: DWP UNY Holds Recycling Training

The Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa) PKM Center FMIPA Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a workshop on transforming organic waste into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) at the Balai Desa Barukan, Kecamatan Manisrenggo, Klaten. The event, held recently, was attended by approximately 50 participants, including students, student organization representatives, accompanying lecturers, and farmer groups from Desa Barukan.

Nano-Hydroxyapatite Gel from Tiger Snail Shells to Prevent Dental Caries

Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNY, through the Student Creativity Program (PKM), conducted a research titled “Gel Nano-Hydroxyapatite (n-HAp) Based on Tiger Snail Shells: Biocomposite Innovation Kurma Ajwa / Siwak / Propolis for Enamel Remineralisation of Teeth”. They developed this innovation in dental health by utilising waste tiger snail shells (cangkang keong macan) as a base material for the production of nano-hydroxyapatite gel (n-HAp).

Student KKN UNY’s Practice of Making Eco-Enzyme as a Real Action Toward a Greener Village

In order to increase community awareness of the importance of organic waste management, a team of students on the Community Service Program (KKN) from UNY carried out an educational activity in Dusun Druju, Desa Margodadi. This activity took place at the home of Mrs Umi (RT 04), who fully supported the implementation of this program.
