Leaves Level Up: UNY Students Present Culinary Innovation at Leafestiva 2026

The Gunungkidul Campus of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) became the venue for Leafestiva 2026 on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. This annual culinary festival carried the theme “One Leaf, A Million Flavors, Leafestiva Full of Creativity.” The event featured a series of activities ranging from group exercise sessions, seminars, and decorating tiwul tumpeng to exhibitions of food and beverage products.

UNY Collaborates with the Umbulharjo Subdistrict and Waste Bank Forum to Hold Eco Enzyme Training

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) collaborated with the Umbulharjo Subdistrict Administration and the Umbulharjo Waste Bank Forum to organize an Eco Enzyme Soap-Making Training at the Umbulharjo Subdistrict Office. This activity represents one of UNY’s contributions to addressing organic waste issues in Yogyakarta through public education and community empowerment.

UNY PLK Students Transform Onion Peel Waste into Liquid Organic Fertilizer in Menden Village, Klaten, Supporting Sustainable Development

The creativity of students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) participating in the Off-Campus Learning Program (PLK) has once again been demonstrated through a simple yet impactful innovation. A PLK team in Menden Village, Kebonarum District, Klaten Regency successfully transformed shallot peel waste into environmentally friendly liquid organic fertilizer (POC) with practical value for the local community.

Scholarship Recipients Lead Mangrove Conservation Project in Baros, Bantul

A group of students receiving the Bintang Mandiri Scholarship initiated a social project focused on mangrove conservation titled “Green Coast Baros” in the Baros Mangrove Forest area, located in Tirtohargo, Kretek, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The initiative was carried out by awardees of the 5th cohort of the Bintang Mandiri Scholarship from Bank Mandiri, as part of their contribution to preserving coastal ecosystems while also empowering local communities.

UNY Plants Hope Through 60 Pucuk Merah Saplings in Seuneubok Village, Aceh

Students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) participating in the Humanitarian Community Service Program (KKN) carried out an environmental restoration initiative by planting 60 pucuk merah (Syzygium oleina) saplings in Seuneubok Village, Bendahara District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.

The activity was conducted as part of post-flood recovery efforts in the area, where environmental damage had affected vegetation and residential surroundings. The tree-planting initiative also followed directives from the village leadership to support greening and ecological restoration programs.
