A memorable moment occurred during the APKASI Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD, where President Prabowo stopped at the stand of the Badan Pengelola Dana Perkebunan (BPDP) of the Finance Ministry. He focused on an innovative product — Batik Sawit — developed by UNY alumnus Miftahudin Nur Ihsan, Founder of Smart Batik Indonesia.

UNY Students Present “SmartCleaner”: A Solar-Powered Innovation for Sustainable Livestock Farming

Students at UNY once again demonstrated their role in delivering real solutions for society. Through the Student Creativity Programme – Application of Science & Technology (PKM-PI), a student team introduced “SmartCleaner: Solar-Powered Cleaning System & Ammonia Monitoring”, to assist the farmers’ group “Kelompok Tani Ngudi Makmur” in Gunung Manuk Village, Patuk District, Gunungkidul.

The innovation emerged from concerns over a classic issue faced by cattle farmers: the barn is difficult to clean regularly and high levels of ammonia gas pose danger to the livestock.

Sumbersari Village, Purworejo Regency, is one of the banana-producing villages. Currently, some MSMEs specialize in processing bananas into chips. "Unfortunately, the waste in the form of banana peels is usually thrown away.
