Professor and Doctoral Students from UNY PTK Attend GeNeMe 2025 at TU Dresden, Germany

University of Yogyakarta (UNY) has once again shown its international presence. Five doctoral (PhD) students from the Vocational Technology and Education (PTK) program at UNY together with one professor took active participation in the international conference GeNeMe 2025 – Communities in New Media, recently held at Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), Germany.

The prestigious conference served as a scientific forum for global researchers to share ideas and innovations in the fields of education, technology, and new media.

In the forum, Prof. Dr. Bruri Triyono, M.Pd., a full professor at UNY, was entrusted as the Research Keynote Speaker with a presentation titled “Competence and Inclusion in VET through Digital Innovation – Research Directions of CVET Yogyakarta". Additionally, five doctoral students from UNY’s PTK program presented research on current issues such as artificial intelligence (AI), digitization, and social responsibility.

The doctoral student presentations included Roudlotus Sholikhah: “Learning Analytics and Key Digital Skills in Vocational Education: A Systematic and Bibliometric Review of Global Trends, Challenges, and Future Directions", Olivia Kembuan: “Voice-to-Sign Translation System for Indonesian Sign Language: Enhancing Deaf Communication", Hamid Nasrullah: “Integrating Mobile Augmented Reality into Kiken Yochi Training in Vocational Education: A Systematic Literature Review", Dwi Jatmoko (online): “Developing 21st Century Vocational School Teacher Skills Through Industry Collaboration in Teaching Factory Learning", Ilham Darmawan (online): “Development of Electrical Circuit Training Design Based on Trainer Kit and Video Module”, The presence of UNY’s professor and students at this international conference reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening digital competence, technology ethics, and sustainable innovation in vocational education (TVET).

Their participation also serves as a tangible contribution by UNY toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education): through development of inclusive and adaptive vocational learning models responsive to digital transformation, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): via research that reinforces 21st-century skills and industry collaboration in learning, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure): through technology-based innovation and applied research in vocational education, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities): by promoting equal access to education, including for persons with disabilities.

With the theme “AI & Humanity”, UNY continues to affirm its global role in building a vocational education ecosystem adaptive to digital transformation while upholding human values — simultaneously becoming part of the global movement toward sustainable development.
