UNY Empowers Bantul Residents to Process Jatropha Seeds into Renewable Fuel

UNY continues to assert its role as a change-driving campus through the “UNY Berdampak” programme, which aligns with the national “Dikti Saintek Berdampak” initiative from the Ministry of Education, Research and Technology. One concrete form is community empowerment in the processing of jatropha seeds (Jatropha curcas L.) into a source of renewable fuel, implemented at Pasar Blumbang Mataram, Wirokerten, Bantul.

UNY Collaborate to Educate the Residents of Girirejo: Promoting the Use of Medicinal Plants as Natural Antiseptics

UNY and UGM have entered into a strategic collaboration via a community‐service programme titled “Utilisation of Local Medicinal Plants as Natural Antiseptics.” The programme targets residents of the village of Desa Girirejo, Kecamatan Imogiri, Bantul, as a form of empowerment based on local potential and to raise awareness about environmental sanitation. Strengthening International Network, UNY Establishes Strategic Cooperation with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

UNY officially established a strategic cooperation with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), China, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The meeting, aimed at strengthening collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange, was held at the Rectorate Building of UNY on Friday, 20 June 2025. The event was officially opened by UNY’s Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems, Prof. Soni Nopembri, Ph.D. In his remarks, Prof. Soni warmly welcomed the delegation from GDUFS and appreciated the establishment of this cooperation.

German Culture Exhibition at UNY: A Remarkable Success with Praise from the DAAD Representative

The Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture at UNY successfully organized a vibrant and meaningful German Culture Exhibition on Thursday, 19 June 2025. UNY and Udayana University Collaborate on Balinese Orchid Bonsai Innovation

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FMIPA UNY) has teamed up with Universitas Udayana’s Faculty of Agriculture and Bali’s Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) to conduct joint research on developing new orchid varieties native to Bali. The project focuses on creating indoor-friendly orchid bonsai suited for diverse living environments, with collaborative teams conducting field observations and cultivation trials to support this goal.

Collaboration to Preserve Dayak Culinary Traditions

A collaboration between the Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and the Education and Culture Office of North Kalimantan Province has resulted in the publication of a book highlighting the unique culinary traditions of the Dayak community. The book is an outcome of extensive ethnographic research aimed at documenting and preserving the culinary heritage of the Dayak people, which holds a significant place in their cultural identity.
 

UNY Hosts UI GreenMetric 2024 Online Course to Promote Global Sustainability Awareness

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) continues to demonstrate its active commitment to sustainability by promoting awareness and education on environmentally responsible practices. One of its major initiatives in 2024 is hosting the UI GreenMetric International Online Course, a global program aimed at advancing sustainable development in higher education institutions. This program is officially supported by Rector’s Decree No. 9.2/UN34/IX/2024.
 

UNY Empowers Bugel Farmers with Fish Farming Training to Strengthen Food and Nutrition Security

To support food and nutrition security among rural communities, a team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted a two-day training and mentoring program on household fish farming for residents in Bugel Village, Panjatan Subdistrict, Kulon Progo.
