UNY Releases Graduates of Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) Guru Tertentu Ready to Strengthen National Education Quality

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held the yudisium (graduation) ceremony for participants of the Pendidikan Profesi Guru (PPG) program for Guru Tertentu — specifically Cohorts 3, 4, and 5 of the 2025 session — on Wednesday, February 12, 2026 at the UNY Auditorium. This ceremony marked an important milestone for the teachers who have completed the entire professional teacher education and competency exam process under the PPG program.

The yudisium was attended by UNY leaders, faculty heads, lecturers, and PPG participants. According to Director of the Directorate of Professional Education and Competence at UNY, Prof. Erwin Setyo Kriswanto, the graduates had passed the UKPPPG competency test for the 4th, 5th, and 6th periods of 2025. The total number of participants was 7,484, with 750 attending in person and 6,734 online, representing 33 fields of study from 459 regencies/cities across 38 provinces in Indonesia.

In his speech, UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto expressed appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the graduates, emphasizing that PPG is a strategic part of efforts to improve the quality and professionalism of teachers in Indonesia. He noted that the yudisium is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of their professional responsibilities as certified teachers. He urged graduates to implement what they’ve learned to deliver quality, character-building, and adaptive education in response to changing times.

A representative of the graduates, Rahmi Syafira, S.Pd, shared that throughout the three months of the program, they balanced independent study, journal preparation, and teaching responsibilities. She stressed that receiving the professional teacher certificate should not just be a formality, but must be realized in practice to address complex educational challenges and rapid technological development.

With the successful completion of this PPG yudisium, UNY reaffirmed its role in supporting improvements in teacher quality across Indonesia. The graduates are expected to apply the competencies they have acquired to enhance the quality of teaching and contribute meaningfully to educational excellence and the nation’s intellectual development.
