Workshop Series Career Guidance #10: UNY Equips Students and Alumni to Read the 2030 Job Map

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) through its Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni organized Workshop Series Career Guidance (WSBK) #10 with the theme “Future-Proofing Your Career: Reading the 2030 Job Map” on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Ballroom, IKA UNY Alumni Building (2nd Floor). The event was attended by 1,143 participants consisting of students and alumni from all faculties and the Graduate School, with 286 participants attending in person and 857 online.
The workshop was designed to respond to major transformations in the world of work as trends like automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and the green economy are expected to shift many job types while creating new opportunities toward 2030. Participants were encouraged not to rely solely on academic credentials, but also to understand the future job map, essential competencies, and strategies to adapt in a rapidly changing labor market.
In his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO — Rector of UNY — emphasized that the quality of a university is determined by the quality of its graduates. He stated that a good university should be able to produce graduates who finish on time, achieve strong academic performance, enter the workforce quickly, and obtain decent and stable employment. According to him, career guidance activities such as this workshop are key to enhancing the employment readiness of graduates.
The workshop featured two main speakers: Nurhadi Irbath, S.T., CEC., LCC. — Founder & Advisor of PT. Engineering Career Center (ECC) — who spoke about the 2030 job map and future skills, including trends in jobs that are declining and those that are emerging, the concept of hybrid skills (a mix of technical and soft skills), and industries more resilient to disruption from AI and global change and Diana Septi Purnama, M.Pd., Ph.D. — Head of the Career Guidance and Counseling Service Unit (ULBK) at UNY — who explained how to create an effective personal career roadmap using tools like self-assessment, SWOT analysis, and SMART goal-setting.
Moderated by Dr. Ir. Yosep Efendi, M.Pd., the workshop was also attended by leaders from the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, representatives of the UNY Alumni Association, deans, faculty vice deans, and career guidance officers from faculties.
