UNY Participates in Career Day at Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to Promote Readiness for Further Studies

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) took part in the Career Day event at Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 as a way to support students in preparing for higher education and future academic paths.
The Career Day was officially opened by Dra. Hj. Shoimah Kastolani, a member of the Badan Pembina Harian (Daily Advisory Board) of Madrasah Mu’allimin–Mu’allimaat Yogyakarta. In her speech, she explained that the event was intended to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and insights so they can plan their academic futures more clearly according to their interests and potential.
The activity was attended by representatives from several universities — including Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPN Veteran), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, and Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta — along with a total of 16 higher education institutions that opened informational and consultation booths for the students.
UNY was represented by Dedy Herdito, M.M., Seno Sudrajat, M.Pd., and student Careva Jhilly Kanahaya Setiawan from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). They provided direct information and guidance to the students about UNY’s academic programs, admission pathways, and student life on campus.
In addition to the booth activities, Career Day also included a seminar held in the Aula Prof. Siti Baroroh Baried at Madrasah Mu’allimaat Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. During the seminar, Mr. Dedy Herdito presented detailed information about UNY’s faculties and study programs — including admissions pathways, scholarships, campus facilities, and achievements by UNY students at national and international levels.
The interactive session was met with positive responses from the students, who asked many questions — especially about admission options and opportunities to enter university through academic achievement pathways.
One of the participating 12th-grade students, Ummi Fathonah, expressed her appreciation for Career Day, saying the event helped students at Madrasah Mu’allimaat better understand their options for continuing to higher education.
The Career Day concluded with a question-and-answer session between the students and the university representatives. Through its participation, UNY reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing higher education literacy among secondary school students and helping prospective students prepare for university life.
