UNY Strengthens Graduate Quality Through Employer Meeting and Alumni Gathering

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a strategic forum called the Employer Meeting and Alumni Gathering at the Hotel UNY Ballroom. This event was attended by partners from the Business and Industrial World (DUDI) and UNY alumni to build two-way discussions about graduate quality and aligning the university’s curriculum with the current needs of the job market. The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO (Rector of UNY), who emphasized the importance of real synergy through the slogan “Jaya Lembaganya, Sejahtera Warganya” — highlighting that graduates’ success is connected with institutional excellence and societal welfare.

The first presentation was delivered by Prof. Soni Nopembri, M.Pd., Ph.D. (Vice Rector for Cooperation and Information Systems), who encouraged partners to absorb UNY experts into decent employment and to help cultivate entrepreneurial spirit among graduates. Partners contributed feedback on aligning graduate competencies with industry dynamics, the need for facility sharing, mentorship for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and opportunities for early partner involvement in academic processes and collaboration with foreign graduate talent.

An important part of the event was the Focus Group Discussion (FGD), which gathered input from partners about curriculum development, alumni perspectives, and identification of future skills needed by the workforce. From these discussions, it was concluded that UNY has qualified human resources and infrastructure to support industry needs. The meeting produced commitments for competency mapping, recruitment planning, applied research opportunities, and practitioners teaching — all aimed at strengthening long-term strategic partnerships with real impact.
