UNY Equips and Sends Off Students for KKN and/or PK Even Semester AY 2025/2026

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a briefing and send-off for hundreds of students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) and/or Educational Practice (PK) for the Even Semester of Academic Year 2025/2026 at Gedung Imam Barnadib. The event marked the official start of their community engagement and field learning — a manifestation of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service).

The ceremony was attended by the Rector, university leaders, supervisors, and the participating students. In his speech, Prof. Sumaryanto (Rector of UNY) emphasized that KKN and PK are not merely academic requirements but important platforms for shaping character and leadership. He encouraged students to act as agents of change, maintain the university’s good name, observe high ethical standards, and make real contributions in their respective fields of study.

For this even semester period UNY has deployed PK students to various partner institutions spread across the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java, including Sleman, Kulon Progo, Bantul, Yogyakarta City, Muntilan, and Slawi. A total of 73 students participate in PK through regular and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) schemes, from various faculties such as Education, Arts, Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Health & Sport Sciences, and Economics & Business.

The KKN program is being carried out in Kulon Progo Regency in DIY, involving 220 non-education KKN students and 46 education-focused KKN students — totaling 266 participants.

The PK and non-education KKN programs are scheduled from January 15 to March 15, 2026, while the education-focused KKN runs from April 1 to June 13, 2026. During these field activities, students are expected to apply their knowledge, skills, and character values to provide real benefits for the community and partner institutions.

The briefing portion of the event included technical preparation for KKN (presented by Dr. Kuncoro Asih Nugroho and the KKN IT team) and for PK (explained by Dr. Pasca Tri Kaloka and the PK IT team). A symbolic moment of the send-off was when the Rector placed participant badges on student representatives — signifying trust and responsibility.

UNY hopes this preparation and deployment will enable students to carry out their programs optimally, with integrity, and to turn their field experience into valuable preparation for professional life and ongoing community engagement.
