UNY Graduates 1,510 Students, Rector Appreciates High-Achieving Graduates

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a graduation ceremony for its Doctoral, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Applied Bachelor’s programs for Period II Phase 2 of the 2025/2026 Academic Year at the UNY Sports Hall (GOR) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. A total of 1,510 graduates were officially conferred their academic degrees and are ready to contribute to society, the nation, and the country.

UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto delivered a speech congratulating all the graduates, along with their parents and families who supported their education. He expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting UNY with their children’s higher education and encouraged graduates to thank their families for their love, blessings, and guidance throughout their studies.

In his address, the rector also encouraged graduates to become qualified alumni who love their alma mater and consistently contribute to advancing the institution and improving societal welfare. He noted that many graduates have achieved accomplishments not only at the national level but also regionally and internationally. This success has helped UNY rank among the top five universities nationally for student achievement activities.

Prof. Sumaryanto also pointed out opportunities for graduates to pursue further studies at the Master’s (S2) and Doctoral (S3) levels, mentioning that UNY is trusted to educate postgraduate students, including for professional teacher education programs chosen by around 29,000 applicants.

For this graduation period, graduates included: 37 doctoral graduates, 318 master’s graduates, 982 bachelor’s graduates, and 173 applied bachelor’s graduates.

Academic achievements were highlighted: 15 graduates earned the highest distinction of summa cum laude, and 1,034 graduates graduated with cum laude honors—with 27 from doctoral programs, 169 from master’s programs, 716 from bachelor’s programs, and 122 from applied bachelor’s programs.

The highest GPA recipients included: Doctoral level: Dr. Antonius Setyawan Sugeng Nur Agung (IPK 4.00), Master’s level: Tegar Feriantoro, M.M. (IPK 4.00), Bachelor’s level: Betran Yunior, S.I.Kom. (IPK 3.98), and Applied Bachelor’s level: Isti Nurhalisa, S.Tr.Ak.
