Reducing Inequality, Promoting Equity: UNY Students Socialize SDG 10 at SMPN 1 Pengasih

Group 10 students of the Marketing Management B Class of 2025, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), conducted an outreach activity themed “Together to Reduce Inequality and Promote Equity” at SMPN 1 Pengasih. The activity aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the importance of justice, equality, and inclusivity in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities.
The socialization program was actively attended by 30 students of Class 8B, who received explanations about various forms of inequality in everyday life, including educational, opportunity-based, and social inequalities. The presenters also encouraged students to understand the negative impacts of unchecked inequality and emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of background.
The materials were delivered by three presenters from Group 10: Naufal Atyan Ramadhana, who explained the issues and types of inequality; Puanadya Aisha Chikara Parahita, who discussed the impacts of inequality and the concept of equity; and Nadia Febriyanti, who outlined practical applications of equity and the benefits of diversity.
The session was conducted interactively using engaging visual media. The discussion segment was particularly lively, as students shared examples of simple actions that can be practiced at school, such as providing equal opportunities in group work and respecting differing opinions. Through this activity, students were encouraged to become agents of change in creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
The outreach also highlighted the interconnection between SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). It is hoped that similar activities will continue to be carried out as part of ongoing efforts to support the achievement of the SDGs at the local level and to foster a more equitable and diversity-responsive school culture.
