Six UNY Students Successfully Complete International Teaching Practice at Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok

Six students from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) have successfully completed their international teaching practice (Program Pengalaman Lapangan or PK) at Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok (SIB), Thailand. The program, held from August 2 to September 2, 2025, aimed to provide students with real-world teaching experience in an international setting.
The participants included Lopiya Saganda (English Education), Jerry Kurniawan (Economic Education), Firda Fajri Hermawan (Physical Education, Health, and Recreation), Nasywa Aulia Ramadhani (English Education), Ronna Fitriah (Economic Education), and Sugiarto Nur Alim (Physical Education, Health, and Recreation). They were assigned various roles, such as team leader, secretary, treasurer, public relations, and subject-specific coordinators.
During their tenure at SIB, the students taught across multiple educational levels, including early childhood education (PAUD), elementary school (SD), junior high school (SMP), and senior high school (SMA). They were entrusted with teaching subjects aligned with their academic backgrounds and competencies. Lopiya Saganda, for instance, taught English and Biology, leveraging her background in English Education and experience as a former Biology Olympiad participant.
Beyond their teaching responsibilities, the students actively participated in events organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, taking advantage of SIB's proximity to the embassy. This involvement allowed them to engage with the Indonesian community and cultural activities in Thailand.
The success of this international PK program underscores UNY's commitment to enhancing the global competence of its students and fostering international collaboration in education.
