Visiting Professor: Prof. Sattar Rasul Shares Best Practices for Publishing in Indexed Journals

The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (SPs UNY) hosted a Visiting Professor program in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). From September 22 to 26, 2025, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Sattar Rasul served as a Visiting Professor in the Doctoral Program of Technology and Vocational Education (PTK).
During the academic sessions, Prof. Sattar discussed strategies for publishing in reputable scientific journals by introducing the ecosystem of indexed journals (WoS/Scopus) along with their metrics (Impact Factor, quartile) and how to assess the suitability of manuscripts with the journal's scope. He emphasized the importance of selecting credible bibliographic databases and understanding quality standards before submitting manuscripts.
To strengthen writing skills, Prof. Sattar analyzed the structure of quality articles—from structured abstracts, formulation of research gaps and objectives, methodology design, to discussions, conclusions, and implications—and encouraged the use of current data and references to ensure scientific relevance. This practical guide includes examples of variable formulation, analysis techniques, and tips for maintaining argument coherence so that manuscripts are worthy of review in reputable journals.
Through a series of lectures, writing workshops, and mentoring, this Visiting Professor program is expected to strengthen the research and international publication culture within SPs UNY, expand collaboration networks, and enhance the global competitiveness of graduates.
