UNY Goes Global: Welcoming International Experts to Build an Impactful Campus through Collaboration

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) is actively advancing its vision to become a world-class university through its flagship Visiting Professor Inbound program. This strategic initiative by UNY's International Office brings renowned academics from various countries to not only share knowledge but also establish tangible collaborations that support the internationalization of the campus.

The program has yielded concrete results across various faculties. At the Vocational Faculty, Dr. Mohd. Akmal Bin Rohiat from Malaysia not only taught latte art but also opened opportunities for international summer courses. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Engineering invited Prof. Rong Zulan from China for technical design training, leading to plans for student exchanges and research collaborations.

Innovation in technology and education is also a key focus. The Faculty of Education (FIP) utilized the presence of Prof. Kuo-Huang Huang from Taiwan to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. As a result, six Implementation Arrangements (IA) were established for joint research and the development of micro-credentials. At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Prof. Hwang Wu-Yuin, also from Taiwan, taught the use of AI to create learning assessments, which directly led to discussions on joint research in three scientific fields.

"The presence of these professors serves as a catalyst for accelerating collaboration. We not only gain new knowledge but also strategic partners to enhance the quality of research and community service," said Prof. Moch. Bruri Triyono, Head of UNY's International Office.

Global partnerships were further strengthened through visits to the Graduate School (SPS). Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozita from Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia not only delivered lectures on leadership but also initiated discussions on collaborative research in education and social sciences.
