Team PKM MWA UNY holds training on designing joyful-learning-based instruction for teachers

On Friday, 29 August 2025, a training session on the preparation of joyful-learning-based teaching was held for teachers of the Special Sports Class (KKO) at the Labschool UNY, located in Yogyakarta.

The training began at 13:00 WIB in the Main Hall of Labschool UNY, and was opened with remarks from the Chair of the PKM MWA team, Dr. Drs. Sudarmaji, M.Pd. Participants included approximately thirty KKO teachers, and the session featured prominent academic speakers such as Prof. Suyanto, M.Ed., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Achmad Dardiri, M.Hum., Ph.D., Prof. Endang Rini S., Dr. Aprilia Tina Lidyasari, M.Pd., and Dr. Anang Priyanto, S.H., M.Hum. In his presentation, Prof. Suyanto explained that 21st-century education should be grounded in three “golden principles”: mindful (aware), meaningful (relevant), and joyful (enjoyable) learning. According to him, this is a concrete answer to persistent educational problems in Indonesia, such as literacy, character, and 21st-century skills.

The aim of the training was to strengthen teachers’ ability to design learning units and teaching devices that foster an enjoyable, meaningful, and conscious (mindful) learning experience—thus shifting from traditional rote learning toward deeper and more engaging learning. By enabling teachers to adopt joyful-learning approaches, the initiative hopes to improve the quality of instruction, raise student engagement, and ultimately contribute to higher learning outcomes.
