FISIP UNY and BPIP Hold National Seminar on 'Pancasila Literacy and the Revival of the Republic'

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), in collaboration with the Indonesian Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), organized a National Seminar titled “Pancasila Literacy and the Revival of the Republic” on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the UNY Postgraduate Building.

The seminar featured national figures and academics discussing the importance of strengthening understanding and practice of Pancasila values amidst the dynamics of national life.

Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at UNY, expressed appreciation for the strategic collaboration between UNY, Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and BPIP in enhancing Pancasila ideology literacy within the academic community. He emphasized that this event serves as a platform for student interaction and learning in Pancasila literacy to welcome Indonesia's Golden Age in 2045.

Toto Purbiyanto, Director of Networks and Cultivation at BPIP, reaffirmed that Pancasila is the ideology and foundation of the nation's worldview. He stated, “We agree that Pancasila must not be replaced by other ideologies.” The goal of this activity is to strengthen the character values of Pancasila to become daily habits. He noted that there is a lack of Pancasila literacy due to the removal of programs like Penataran P4 and Moral Pancasila Education (PMP) in formal education, leading to moral degradation. The hope is that students can become Pancasila Virtue volunteers, individuals who speak and act in accordance with Pancasila.

The seminar also featured Willy Aditya, S.Fil., M.Ds., M.Sc., Chairman of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, he urged participants to embrace Pancasila as a source of strength and unity for the nation, especially in facing global challenges and ideological threats.

The event was attended by lecturers, students, and civic education observers, fostering an atmosphere of intellectual enthusiasm and national spirit. Through this seminar, it is hoped that the spirit of Pancasila literacy will continue to grow, becoming a foundation for critical thinking and strengthening the national identity of Indonesia in maintaining the integrity and dignity of the Republic.
