Student organizations at the university level consist of the Student Executive Board (BEM). Student Representative Council (DPM) and Student Consultative Assembly (MPM). Student organizations at the Faculty level are the Faculty Student Executive Board (BEMF) and the Faculty-Student Representative Council. In contrast, at the department/study program level, there is a Department / Study Program Student Association (HIMA). Meanwhile, there are Student Activity Units (UKM) at the university and faculty level to accommodate interests, talents and foster student achievement. BEM KM UNY is the highest executive institution at the university level that runs the student government.

UNY UKM has four fields: Reasoning, Sports, Arts, and Welfare/Special interest.

Field of Reasoning

1. Research Student Activity Units (UKM Penelitian)

2. Student Press Institution (UKM EKSPRESI)

3. Radio Student Activity Units (UKM Radio “Magenta FM”)

4. Student Activity Forum of Foreign Language (UKM Bahasa asing)

5. Technology Engineering Student Activity Units (UKM “RESTEK”)

Arts Field

1. Music Student Activity Units (UKM Music "SICMA BAND")

2. Literature and Theater Study Unit (UKM Unit Studi Sastra dan Teater "UNSTRAT")

3. Student Activity Units of Traditional Arts (UKM Keluarga Mahasiswa Seni Tradisi "KAMASETRA")

4. Student Choir “Suara Wardhana”
