On Friday, 1 October 2021, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) signed a Cooperation Agreement in education, research, and community service with PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. 

The event took place at the Postgraduate Building. UNY's representatives, Rector of UNY,  Vice-Rectors, Deans, Heads of Institutions, and Postgraduate Program Officers, and PT WIKA's representatives, Operational Director 2 PT WIKA, President Director of PT WIKA Industri Energi (Winner), Winner's Marketing Director accompanied by General and Managers also attended this event.

Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto M. Kes. said that UNY hopes the synergy established between UNY and PT WIKA can run efficiently, effectively, and immediately. He advised his staff to optimize all forms of cooperation, especially since UNY is currently heading for a Legal Entity College (PTN-BH).

PT WIKA was ready to lead UNY to become one of the universities that utilize green energy by the government's program. It aims to accelerate the renewable energy mix.

"Our commitment is to make the Solar Power Plant (PLTS) on the UNY campus a learning medium for research and development laboratories," said Harum Akhmad.

Through the momentum of this collaboration, PT WIKA, which is engaged in the business world, and UNY as an educational institution can jointly develop renewable energy products in the country and utilize them.

"To better understand the production process, we invite the UNY academic community to explore research in the Wika industrial area in Cileungsi Bogor," he added.

The event closed with signing a memorandum of understanding between UNY and PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. and Groundbreaking PLTS at UNY. (Khairani Faizah,ts-Shafia, Alina)
