SARI OYOT YOGURT: YOGURT FOR MILLENIALS
The world is facing a global health and socio-economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the beginning of its appearance, this virus received various responses from the Indonesian people. Some are starting to be careful and adopt a healthy lifestyle, but some don't care. However, more people are concerned with preventive measures against this virus by encouraging the Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) to create health-conscious people. One of the efforts is to increase immunity. Herbal medicine can be an option to strengthen a person's immune system.
Jamu is a typical Indonesian drink that is easy to obtain, processed, and nutritious for the body. Unfortunately, there are still few students or other young people who are interested in herbal medicine. Today's young people prefer packaged drinks because they are more practical and the packaging is more attractive. Drinking herbal medicine for young people seems old-fashioned so that most of the herbal drinkers are only older people. So that the culture of drinking herbal medicine is maintained, it is hoped that this habit will start early.
Based on these problems, the students of FMIPA UNY consisting of Baso Samsu Rijal (Jurdik Biology), Syarifa Nurmawaa (Jurdik Physics), Endah Rianingsih, Riza Alfiyatun, Yuliari Suprihatin made the Sari Oyot Yogurt innovation. Sari oyot yogurt is an innovation in developing herbal products combined with milk in millennial yogurt drinks.
This activity aims to elevate herbal medicine to become an economic productivity of interest to all ages by making it a practical and delicious yogurt without reducing its benefits. In addition, it is also economical because the raw materials can be found quickly, and the price is affordable. Furthermore, according to expert research, yogurt has health benefits such as a healthy digestive tract, antidiarrheal, anticancer, etc.
According to Baso Samsu, this innovative product has brought his team an achievement, namely obtaining a Gold Award at the Indonesia Education International Innovative Competition 2021 recently. (Witono,ts-Shafia)
