Jamu (Herbal Medicine) Kiringan Has The Potential To Go International

The herbal medicine business group in Pendukuhan Kiran Canden Jetis Bantul, on Thursday (30/9) afternoon, received a visit from the Director of Harmonizing Social and Cultural Development, Dr. Bonivasius Prasetya ichtiarto, S.si, M.eg, along with the Director of Harmonizing Development of Natural Resources and the Environment, Sumarlan, from the Director-General for Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Ministry of DPPTT RI, to see the development and potential of Jamu Kiringan Bantul.

 

Dr. Bonivaius said that Jamu Kiringan could go international and inspire other regions to develop local industries in Indonesia. "Now what is needed to develop further is a cooperation between the government, the community, business actors and universities or campuses," he said.

The village head of Canden, Beja, explained that the hamlet of Kiringan had been known since the Dutch colonial era to carry herbal medicine. Starting in 2021, he will receive guidance and assistance from Prof. Dr. Nahiyah from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) through the UNY LPPM Business Incubator. "When the 2006 earthquake hit, it fell, but with the enthusiasm and assistance from UNY, now Jamu Kiran is growing," he said.
