Come from Remote Region Cannot Stop Success
Andri Bangsawan is the fastest graduate in the UNY graduation period in June 2021. The alumnus of the Sports Science department at the Faculty of Sports Science managed to complete his undergraduate education in 3 years and six months with a Cumlaude GPA of 3.88. He is the eldest of three children in a remote village in Penengahan Hamlet, Turgak Village, Belalau District, West Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. His father is a farmer who only graduated from elementary school, and his mother passed away when Andri was 15. During high school, Andri had several regional and national achievements, which eventually led him to represent West Lampung Regency in participating in the national selection to enter higher education through the scholarship program for disadvantaged, frontier, lower, and outermost areas (ADIK 3T). He competed with thousands of other scholarship recipients from various regions in Indonesia and successfully passed the selection.
Andri got accepted into three state universities and two private universities. However, he chose Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). Andri chose the Faculty of Sports Science because it took into account the needs of the area in West Lampung. Furthermore, he aimed to gain as much knowledge as possible and return to serve the progress of his home region. In the academic field, he recorded several national achievements in scientific writing and community service programs. These achievements led him to win an award as an Outstanding Student at UNY in 2020 and 2021.
Andri said he could complete his studies quickly because of his parent's upbringing, which always taught him to be disciplined and severe in trying. Andri always prioritizes lectures over other activities, is punctual in attending classes, and always gives his best when he gets assignments given by the lecturer. Another factor is the support and prayers from the academic community and the lecturers at UNY that make it move forward and grow. After completing this undergraduate program, he plans to continue his master's degree through the LPDP Afirmasi scholarship. UNY has implemented one of the sustainable global agendas with this achievement, including poverty alleviation, reducing inequality, and providing good quality education. (Dedy,ts-Shafia, Alina)
