A team of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) students under the Off-Campus Learning Program (PLK), titled “Swakarya Mengabdi,” carried out a community service initiative in Nglumut Tourism Village, Srumbung District, Magelang Regency, from April to May 2026. The program focused on strengthening the village’s tourism potential through community empowerment, infrastructure improvement, and digitalization.

Supervised by Dr. Adin Ariyanti Dewi, S.Pd., M.Pd., the team consisted of ten students from various academic backgrounds, led by Arya Yanuarta Adi P. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the students worked collaboratively with local residents to support the development of Nglumut Tourism Village and enhance the community’s capacity to manage its local potential.

During the program, the team implemented a range of activities, including the promotion of the village’s tourism potential, hospitality and outbound facilitator training for local youth, and workshops on processing salak into an innovative product called Pie Salak. They also provided training on product packaging to help increase the market value of local agricultural products.

In the area of infrastructure and digitalization, the students repaired electrical installations, installed additional lighting, and put up directional signboards leading to Sabo Dam Nglumut, one of the village’s tourism attractions. To strengthen promotion and outreach, the team also developed a village website and produced digital tourism content aimed at expanding the destination’s visibility to wider audiences.

The program also paid attention to environmental sustainability and educational support for local children. The students contributed by providing waste bins, assisting residents in making plant pots from used water gallon containers, and introducing a Learning Garden program for children in the village.

Head of BUMDes Nglumut, Eko Sigit, expressed appreciation for the students’ contribution, particularly in improving tourism facilities and supporting the digitalization of village promotion. Meanwhile, PLK team leader Arya Yanuarta Adi P. emphasized that the programs were designed to create sustainable benefits that would continue to be felt by the community even after the activities had concluded.
