UNY and Blora Regency Government Hold Fun Cycling Event, Strengthening Synergy Between Education and Community

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), in collaboration with the Blora Regency Government, successfully organized a Fun Cycling Event to commemorate the 276th Anniversary of Blora Regency on Sunday, 7 December 2025. The event was held in a lively atmosphere, engaging members of the general public and the academic community, and highlighting the strong synergy between education institutions and community development.
As an Institute for Teacher Education (LPTK), UNY remains strongly committed to supporting human resource development through education, research, and community service. One tangible manifestation of this commitment is UNY’s strategic partnership with the Blora Regency Government in the fields of sports and recreation, as reflected in the organization of the Fun Cycling activity.
UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto stated that Blora is the first region to host UNY’s Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU). “Nyawiji mbangun Blora, makmur, akur, lan misuwur,” he remarked, expressing his hope that Blora will develop into an educational city in central Indonesia, with a particular strength in sports as one of its centers of civilization.
The Fun Cycling event started from the Blora Regency Education Office and followed the route: GOR Street → Mount Lawu Street → Sudarman Street → Col. Sunandar Street → Blora–Randublatung Street → UNY Blora Area Checkpoint (future UNY campus construction site) → Gunandar Street → Pancasila Monument → Ahmad Yani Street → and returned to the Blora Regency Education Office.
In addition to the cycling activity, the event was enlivened by the distribution of hundreds of door prizes, including a grand prize of an electric bicycle donated by the UNY Rector, won by Tatik from SMA Negeri 1 Blora, and presented directly by Blora Vice Regent Hj. Sri Setyorini.
Blora Regent Dr. H. Arief Rohman, S.I.P., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for this synergy. “We warmly welcome the presence of the UNY campus in Blora, which is planned to be developed in 2026 with sports-related study programs. We hope this initiative will enhance sports achievements among the people of Blora and bring broad benefits to the surrounding community,” he said.
Looking ahead, UNY’s presence in Blora is expected to accelerate the realization of Blora as an educational city. The planned study programs are envisioned to become leading models and sources of inspiration for other regions such as Riau, West Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan.
