Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) have strengthened their commitment to supporting the improvement of human resource quality through the awarding of scholarships to 104 UNY students. The educational assistance, which is part of BTN’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) / Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program (Tanggung Jawab Sosial dan Lingkungan – TJSL), was presented at the Main Meeting Room of the UNY Rectorate on Friday (July 10, 2026).

A total of 104 students received the scholarships, consisting of 80 students in the underprivileged category and 24 outstanding students. The recipients came from various faculties and educational levels at UNY, ranging from Applied Bachelor (D4), Bachelor’s (S1), Master’s (S2), to Doctoral (S3) programs. This program represents BTN’s commitment to supporting the sustainability of higher education access while contributing to the development of Indonesia’s human resources.

The Rector of UNY expressed appreciation to PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk for its support through the scholarship program. According to him, synergy between universities and the business and industrial sectors is a strategic step in improving education quality and producing excellent and competitive graduates.

The Rector encouraged scholarship recipients to use the assistance as motivation to continue improving their academic and non-academic achievements, as well as developing their personal competencies. “This scholarship is a form of trust as well as an investment for the future. Therefore, make the best use of this opportunity to continue learning, achieving, and contributing to the nation,” he said.

The Rector also invited UNY lecturers and education staff to continue strengthening collaboration with BTN. The cooperation that has been established is expected to expand beyond scholarship distribution, including educational development programs, human resource competency improvement, and services that provide benefits for both institutions.

Meanwhile, Regional Office Head of BTN Central Java–Special Region of Yogyakarta, Fitri Novianty Ratna Kusuma, stated that the scholarship program is a tangible manifestation of BTN’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources, particularly in the field of education. As one of Indonesia’s state-owned banks, BTN not only focuses on housing finance but also carries a social responsibility to contribute to national human resource development. Through this Environmental, Social, and Governance Program, BTN provides scholarships to UNY students as part of the strong partnership that has been established. We hope recipients can make the best use of this scholarship, continue achieving, complete their studies on time, and obtain excellent academic results,” Fitri stated.

The symbolic scholarship handover was conducted by Hendy Purnomoadi, BM of BTN Yogyakarta Branch Office, to the UNY Rector, witnessed by representatives of student recipients from the total 104 scholarship awardees. The event was attended by UNY leaders, BTN representatives, deans, heads of units, and scholarship recipients.

Through this TJSL program, UNY and BTN hope that the existing collaboration can continue to be strengthened and expanded. Support for students through scholarships is expected to increase learning motivation, broaden access to higher education, and produce graduates who are excellent, have strong character, and are ready to contribute to national development.
