UNY Graduation Ceremony Confers Degrees on 1,574 Graduates Ready to Contribute to the Nation

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) officially conferred degrees upon 1,574 graduates during the Graduation Ceremony for Doctoral, Master's, Bachelor's, and Applied Bachelor's Programs, Academic Year 2025/2026, Period IV Stage II, held at the UNY Sports Hall (GOR UNY) on Wednesday (24 June 2026). The graduates comprised 39 doctoral, 257 master's, 1,060 bachelor's, and 218 applied bachelor's degree recipients.
The graduation ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for graduates who are expected to make meaningful contributions across various sectors. Among the graduates, 23 earned the distinction of summa cum laude, while 1,134 graduated with cum laude honors, reflecting UNY's continued commitment to academic excellence.
The graduates came from all faculties across the university. The Faculty of Education (FIP) produced 282 graduates, followed by the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture (FBSB) with 238, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) with 221, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with 148, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) with 169, the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK) with 117, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) with 133, the Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) with 218, the Faculty of Psychology (FP) with 31, and the Graduate School (SPs) with 17 graduates.
Outstanding academic achievements were also recognized during the ceremony. Maryanti, from the Elementary School Teacher Education Program, achieved the highest undergraduate GPA of 3.98. At the postgraduate level, Dr. Musa Hefer Smas (Doctoral Program) and Risma Qurrotu A'yun (Master's Program) each earned a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Beyond academic performance, UNY students demonstrated excellence in extracurricular achievements. During their studies, students earned 855 awards at the international, national, and university levels across academic competitions, arts, sports, and special-interest activities, highlighting the university's holistic approach to student development.
In his address, UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their knowledge for the benefit of society, the nation, and humanity. He also invited graduates to pursue further education through UNY's new fast-track program, which allows undergraduate students to continue directly into master's studies and master's graduates to proceed seamlessly to doctoral programs. The initiative is intended to shorten study duration while preparing graduates to compete globally through not only academic competence but also strong emotional and spiritual intelligence.
“This year, beginning with the August intake, UNY will introduce a fast-track program that enables undergraduate students to continue directly into master's programs, and master's students to doctoral programs, allowing them to complete their studies more efficiently,” the Rector stated.
With the conferral of their degrees, the 1,574 graduates officially join the global community of UNY alumni. They are expected to uphold the university's values of professionalism, integrity, innovation, and social responsibility while making meaningful contributions to national development and society.
