UNY Student Participates in Student Exchange and Teaching Practicum Program in Thailand

Ilzama Maula Wafda Sabila, a student of the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) at the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), has been granted the opportunity to participate in a student exchange and teaching practicum program at the Faculty of Education, Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand, for nearly five months, from March 16 to July 31, 2026. This program is one of the sub-activities under the Enhancing Quality Education for International University Reputation (EQUITY) THE IMPACT Rankings UNY 2025 Program, aimed at strengthening international cooperation while enhancing the global competencies of UNY students in the field of elementary education.

During the program in Thailand, Ilzama will engage in a range of academic activities and professional learning experiences, including Digital Learning in Elementary Schools, Diversity-based Learning, Micro Learning in Elementary Schools, Technopreneurship, and Teaching Practicum, under the supervision of lecturers from the Faculty of Education at Srinakharinwirot University.

The Faculty of Education at Srinakharinwirot University extended a warm welcome to Ilzama as an exchange student from Indonesia. The presence of the UNY student is expected to strengthen academic relations between higher education institutions while enriching cross-cultural learning experiences for all parties involved.

Throughout the program, Ilzama will receive academic supervision from several lecturers, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kittichai Suthasinobon, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sumalee Chauchai, Asst. Prof. Ladda Wangpasit, Dr. Ponpeera Wongpornpratheep, and Acting Lt. Dr. Kirati Nantapongs. These lecturers will support Ilzama’s learning process and professional competency development during her stay in Thailand.

In addition to attending classes, Ilzama is also scheduled to undertake a teaching practicum at Wat Ladprao School from May 14 to July 31, 2026. This opportunity was made possible through the support of Ms. Juraiwan Raiviboon, the school director, who has opened opportunities for international learning experiences for UNY students.

Student participation in international programs such as this reflects UNY’s commitment to expanding global networks and improving the quality of graduates who are adaptive to developments in international education. Through academic experiences and field practice abroad, students are expected to strengthen their pedagogical competencies, intercultural communication skills, and global perspectives.

The collaboration between Srinakharinwirot University and UNY is also expected to further strengthen institutional partnerships in education, research, and academic exchange in the future.

This program contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening the capacity of future educators, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international collaboration between universities, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by expanding students’ access to global learning experiences.
