UNY Successfully Holds Blood Donation Drive for the 62nd Anniversary
In commemoration of its 62nd Anniversary (Dies Natalis), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta successfully organized a blood donation drive involving members of the academic community and the general public. The activity was held as part of a series of anniversary celebrations while also reflecting UNY’s commitment to fostering social awareness and humanitarian values.
The blood donation event took place in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross, ensuring that the implementation followed health and medical standards. Since the morning, participants consisting of lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, and community members enthusiastically attended the event to contribute to helping those in need of blood transfusions.
Before donating blood, participants underwent a health screening process conducted by medical personnel. The examination included checking blood pressure, hemoglobin levels, body temperature, and general physical condition to ensure donor eligibility and participant safety.
The Rector of UNY, Prof. Sumaryanto, expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm and participation of all parties involved in the blood donation drive. According to him, this activity represents a concrete form of concern for others and demonstrates the spirit of mutual cooperation and humanity within the UNY community.
“Blood donation is not only about giving blood, but also about giving hope and helping save lives,” he stated.
The event received a positive response from participants, many of whom expressed their willingness to continue participating in similar humanitarian activities in the future. In addition to supporting blood supply availability, the program also helped raise awareness about the importance of maintaining health and engaging in social service.
Through this blood donation initiative, UNY once again demonstrated that the celebration of its anniversary is not merely ceremonial but also carries meaningful social impact for the broader community. The activity is expected to strengthen solidarity and encourage a culture of helping others among the academic community.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
