UNY Strengthens Institutional Performance through Syawalan Gathering

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held a Syawalan gathering for lecturers and administrative staff at the Rectorate Hall on March 30, 2026, as part of post-Idulfitri celebrations aimed at strengthening institutional cohesion and performance.

The event was attended by more than 200 academic and administrative staff members, creating a warm and family-like atmosphere that fostered togetherness across the university community. The initiative was a collaboration between the Vice Rector for Human Resources and Legal Affairs and the Directorate of Facilities, Infrastructure, and Assets, reflecting strong internal coordination and teamwork.

The Syawalan tradition served not only as a moment of mutual forgiveness but also as a strategic opportunity to reinforce communication and collaboration among colleagues. According to Vice Rector Prof. Siswanto, the event plays a crucial role in building harmonious working relationships and maintaining positive interactions within the institution.

He emphasized that improved communication and strengthened interpersonal relationships would ultimately contribute to enhanced performance, both at the individual and institutional levels. The event concluded with a friendly gathering and handshaking session, symbolizing unity and shared commitment among UNY’s academic community.

This initiative aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting transparent, harmonious, and accountable institutional governance. At the same time, the collaborative nature of the event reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as it demonstrates effective cooperation among internal units to support organizational performance and sustainability.

Overall, the Syawalan event highlights the importance of fostering strong interpersonal relationships and organizational culture as key drivers in achieving sustainable institutional development and improving the quality of services provided by the university.
