Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) officially inaugurated the leadership of the Student Organizations (Ormawa) and Student Activity Units (UKM) at the university level for the 2026 service period. The inauguration ceremony was held formally and solemnly at the UNY Hotel Ballroom on Friday (13/2/2026).
A total of 136 students — including Chairpersons, Secretaries, and Treasurers from various student bodies — pledged their commitment to manage and lead their organizations for the coming year. This group includes leadership from: Legislative and executive bodies: the Student Representative Council (DPM KM) and the Student Executive Board (BEM). UKM in academic reasoning and media: research units, the LPM Ekspresi, Radio Magenta, foreign language students’ unit (SAFEL), and the Technology Engineering Unit. Arts UKM: such as Kamasetra, Unstrat, Serufo, Sicma Band, and the PSM Swara Wardhana choir. Sports UKM: athletic clubs including track & field, basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, marching band “Citra Derap Bahana”, hockey, judo, karate (“Inkai”), archery, pencak silat, aquatic sports, soccer, softball-baseball (men & women), tae kwon do, tennis, table tennis, futsal, and petanque. Spiritual and welfare UKM: including the Islamic Student Spirituality Unit (UKKI), Catholic Student Family (IKMK), Christian Student Fellowship (PMK), Hindu Dharma Student Family (KMHD), Resimen Mahasiswa “Pasopati”, KSR PMI UNY Unit, Pramuka (Boy & Girl Scouts), as well as Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Units.
In his speech, UNY Rector Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes. expressed deep appreciation for the smooth transition of leadership. He emphasized that the successful ceremony was the result of the hard work and coordination of the previous management (2025) and the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni.
The Rector also encouraged the newly inaugurated leaders to uphold the principle of “Mikul Duwur Mendem Jero” — which means carrying responsibility with dignity while being grounded deeply in one’s values. He urged them to preserve and build on the achievements of their predecessors, enhancing the positive accomplishments and reducing previous weaknesses.
As part of the event, Prof. Sumaryanto handed a gift from Erlangga Publisher to the choir UKM PSM Swara Wardhana, which recently won 1st place in The Voice Fest at Braga 2026.
The event concluded with a prayer and the hope that through this inauguration, strong synergy across the UNY academic community would be achieved. Student organizations were highlighted as vital platforms for developing discipline, courage, and broader student potential beyond classroom learning — for the overall progress and well-being of the entire campus community.
