UNY and BSSN Sign Implementation Agreement to Strengthen Cybersecurity for Academic Services

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cyber governance by signing an Implementation Agreement with Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara (BSSN) — the National Cyber and Crypto Agency of Indonesia — focused on enhancing cybersecurity for UNY’s academic services and digital systems.
The signing ceremony was held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Ballroom of UNY Hotel, and attended by top university leaders including the Rector, Vice Rectors, IT and academic services heads, cooperation and international affairs officials, and representatives from BSSN and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes., AIFO, Rector of UNY, expressed his appreciation to BSSN for placing trust in the university. He emphasized that the agreement is a strategic step to improve coordination and preparedness against increasing cyber threats, especially those targeting academic services and institutional databases.
From the BSSN side, the Deputy for Cyber and Crypto Security in Government and Human Development, Dr. Sulistyo, S.Si., S.T., M.Si., explained the national cybersecurity landscape, noting that education institutions have become priority targets for cyber attacks due to digitalization of services and valuable academic data. Threats such as ransomware, phishing, data theft, and service disruptions could significantly impact academic operations if not addressed proactively.
The Implementation Agreement aims to strengthen synergy between UNY and BSSN in cybersecurity management, improve incident preparedness, and ensure safe, reliable, and trustworthy academic services and information systems for the university community.
