Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) officially inaugurated 15 professors on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Performance Hall of the Faculty of Language Arts and Culture UNY. The new professors come from 5 faculties: the Faculty of Education and Psychology, the Faculty of Language Arts and Culture, the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Economics and Business. 

The inauguration of professors is one of the traditions to appreciate and reward lecturers who have struggled to get the highest position and an academic forum for professors to express ideas, ideas, and the latest information related to their scientific fields. "Fifteen professors have made their inaugural speeches, and this is a special gift for UNY's 59th anniversary," said UNY Rector, Prof. Dr. Sumaryanto, M.Kes.

The Faculty of Education and Psychology currently has three new professors. They are Prof. Dr. Haryanto, M.Pd., (Professor in Learning Technology), Prof. Dr. Nurtanio Agus Purwanto, M.Pd., (Professor in Educational Leadership), and Prof. Dr. Budi Astuti, M.Si., (Professor in Personal-Social Guidance and Counseling). On this occasion, Haryanto delivered a speech entitled 'Divergent-Convergent Thinking Balance Through Constructivist Learning Approach'. Nurtanio Agus Purwanto delivered a speech entitled 'Perspectives on Change Leadership in Educational Institutions', and Budi Astuti delivered a speech entitled 'The Role of Schoolconnectedness in Developing Students' Personal-Social Aspects in the New Normal Era'.

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Language Arts and Culture officially has three new professors, namely Prof. Dr. Drs. Iswahyudi, M.Hum., (Professor in the Field of Cultural History Studies), Prof. Dr. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, Ph.D., (Professor in the Field of English Learning Assessment), and Prof. Dr. Drs. I Wayan Suardana, M.Sn., (Professor in the Field of Traditional Fine Arts Studies). Iswahyudi presented a speech on 'The Role of Art Education in Strengthening National Culture', Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro gave a speech on 'The Role of Educators in Assessment For Learning English', and I Wayan Suardana presented on 'Lontar Prasi Art as Local Cultural Fiber Towards Indonesian Art Education'.

The Faculty of Sport and Health became the faculty that had seven new professors in this period. The new professors who have been inaugurated are Prof. Dr. Ahmad Nasrulloh, S.Or., M.Or., (Professor in Sports Science), Prof. Dr. Awan Hariono, S.Pd., M.Or., (Professor in Sports Biomechanics), Prof. Dr. Komarudin, S.Pd., M.A., (Professor in Football Game Learning Science), Prof. Dr. Erwin Setyo Kriswanto, M.Kes, AIFO.., (Professor in Health Education), Prof. Dr. Novita Intan Arovah, M.P.H, Ph.D., (Professor in Public Health Sports Science), Prof. Dr. Sugeng Purwanto, M.Pd., (Professor in Martial Arts Learning Science) and Prof. Dr. Yudik Prasetyo, M.Kes., AIFO., (Professor in Health Sports Exercise Planning Science). Ahmad Nasrulloh delivered a speech entitled 'Fun Fitness Exercise Model to Increase Muscle Strength and Endurance in the Elderly', Awan Hariono gave a speech on 'Performance Analysis as an Effort to Improve Sports Achievement (A Study of Sports Biomechanics)', Komarudin explained about 'Character Education Values in Learning Football Games', Erwin Setyo Kriswanto explained about 'Strategies to Overcome Obesity in Children Through a Combination of Physical Activity and Healthy Nutrition', Novita Intan Arovah gave a speech on 'Physical Activity and Exercise Therapy in Clinical Medicine and Public Health Practice', Sugeng Purwanto explained 'The Urgency of Martial Arts Learning as an Effort to Form Mental Toughness', and Yudik Prasetyo emphasized on 'The Urgency of Health Promotion to Improve the Fitness of Elderly Hajj Pilgrims: A Psycho-Physiological Exercise Paradigm'.

Meanwhile, from the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wagiran, S.Pd., M.Pd became a Professor in Learning Science in Mechanical Engineering Education. Wagiran explained 'Transforming the Vision of Vocational Education in Improving the Quality of Human Resources Holistically as a Humanization Process'.  Prof. Dr. Tony Wijaya, SE, MM. became a Professor in Marketing Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
