UNY Installs New Smart Water Station at the Faculty of Law to Support an Environmentally Friendly Campus

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a green and sustainable campus. Through the Directorate of Infrastructure, Facilities, and Assets, UNY has installed a new Smart Water Station (SWS) at the Faculty of Law (FH) UNY. This facility serves as an environmentally friendly drinking water refill station that supports the reduction of single-use plastic bottle consumption on campus.
The Director of the Directorate of Infrastructure, Facilities, and Assets at UNY, Prof. Slamet Widodo, explained that the installation of the new SWS is a concrete step by UNY to support resource efficiency and sustainable campus environmental management. “This Smart Water Station not only provides drinking water for the academic community but also becomes part of UNY's efforts to reduce plastic waste and raise awareness about sustainable lifestyles. By bringing their own tumblers, students and lecturers can directly contribute to the environment,” said Prof. Slamet Widodo.
The new SWS at the Faculty of Law is equipped with a modern water filtration system and automatic sensors to maintain cleanliness and water usage efficiency. This facility is strategically placed in an area easily accessible to students and educational staff, encouraging positive habits in consuming drinking water healthily and responsibly.
Prof. Slamet Widodo added that the installation of the SWS at the Faculty of Law is part of the UNY Green Campus program, which is being developed gradually across all faculties and work units. “We will continue to expand the installation of Smart Water Stations at various points on campus. It is hoped that UNY will become an academic environment that is not only digitally smart but also cares about environmental sustainability,” he added.
