UNY’s “PSM Swara Wadhana” Shines in Taipei, Sweeps Three International Awards

The student choir PSM Swara Wadhana from UNY continued to carve out a proud achievement on the world stage. The choir successfully brought home three prestigious awards from the Taipei International Choral Competition 2025 (TICC 2025) held in Taipei, Taiwan. At the competition, which was attended by dozens of choirs from various countries, PSM Swara Wadhana demonstrated outstanding vocal quality and musicianship.
Their achievements at TICC are: Winner of Ethnic/Traditional Music Category (C2) with a near-perfect score of 93.08, earning the Gold Award. Runner Up in Musica Sacra Category (C1) with an impressive score of 93.33, also awarded Gold, Best Performance of an A Cappella Work, awarded for their outstanding a cappella rendition of “Dixit Dominus Domino Meo” by Hungarian composer Gyöngyösi Levente.
Coach & conductor Lukas Gunawan Arga Rakasiwi, M.Pd., expressed his gratitude and pride: “We are extremely grateful and proud of this achievement. It is the fruit of hard work, discipline, and the prayers of every team member, as well as the tremendous support from the university and everyone who has helped us.” He also noted that winning the ethnic/traditional category is a particular pride because it can bring and introduce Indonesian cultural wealth onto the international stage. He added that the high scores in the Musica Sacra category and the Best Performance in a cappella reflect the technical quality and mature musicality of the choir.
The competition took place at Song Yi Hall, Soochow University, Taipei and the Grand Prix was held at the National Concert Hall, Taipei. PSM Swara Wadhana had been training since February 2025 in order to deliver their best performance.
