RUSUNAWA UNY USED AS A SELF-Isolating COVID-19 SHELTER

Positive cases of the Coronavirus or Covid-19 in Indonesia lately are increasing day by day. As a result, hospitals, health facilities, shelters for self-isolation are getting fuller, so efforts are needed to add more. Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) cares about this. One of the actual efforts is to provide Rusunawa (Student Flats) UNY as an independent isolation shelter located in Wedomartani.

"This Rusunawa is for UNY provided with assistance from the Public Works and Public Relations (PUPR) Ministry. It is actually for student dormitories, but at this time, the Covid-19 Pandemic situation and condition need shelters to treat Covid-19 patients in Yogyakarta. Last week, the PUPR General Director visited the Rusunawa UGM and UNY. UGM is in Berbah and UNY is in Wedomartani. Rusunawa UNY has 43 rooms. Each room will be filled with two beds, bringing a total of 86 beds," said Prof. Dr. Siswantoyo, M.Kes. The Vice-Rector for Planning and Cooperation is waiting for the PUPR Minister on the sidelines at Rusunawa Wedomartani, Tuesday (27/7).

"The PUPR Minister will be present today to review the location. The Rusunawa will be loaned or used temporarily to treat patients indicated by Covid-19, intended for isolation into an integrated shelter. From the last information, we hoped that this Rusunawa would have an emergency ICU room. Then treatment rooms and these rooms will be able to be used for isolation shelter," said the Vice-Rector.

The PUPR Ministry will coordinate the implementation in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Provincial Health Office and the Sardjito Hospital. The integrated concept provides services because the need for space for Covid sufferers in these shelters is still needed.

The delegation from the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), led by Lt. Gen. TNI Ganip Warsito at Rusunawa UNY Wedomartani, was received by the Secretary's representatives Yogyakarta Province, Drs. Raden Kadarmanta Baskara Aji, while from UNY, was represented by the Head of the UPK Bureau, Drs. Sukirjo, M.Pd and several staff. (Sud,ts-Shafia, Alina)
