The Opening of UNY Assisting Teacher Program to Victoria, Australia UNY Program – VILTA 2020
The Indonesian Consul General initiated this program in Melbourne-Victoria, Australia, collaborating between UNY and VILTA (Victoria Indonesian Language Teacher Association). VILTA consists of 350 Indonesian teachers for their elementary, junior high, and high school.
Today, 12 November 2020, UNY students are officially transferred to Vilta. Attending at this event: Indonesian Consul General in Melbourne-Victoria, Australia (Ms. Spica Tuthatunewa, Staff of the Indonesian Consul General in Melb (Perthalia Rosu), IWR 4 UNY (Mr. Dr. rar.net. Senam, M.Si, Chair of VILTA (Ms. Silvy Wantania), Expert Staff of WR 4 (Adi Cilik Pierawan, M.Sc., Ph.D.), Chair of UUIK FBS (Nunik Sugesti, M.Hum), Head of FBS BIPA Lab (Dr. Arik Kusmiantun, M.Hum), member teachers VILTA (Susi Rekdale, Stuart Bott, Michelle, Maria Obrowski, Stepanie Pearce, Astrid Dux, FBS students and Alumni, and participants of the UNY-Vilta Program Batch 1
For the 1st batch, six students were sent (4 active students and two fresh graduated alumni from PBI, Sasing, PBSI, and Sasindo) that were selected from the selection process of 30 applicants. They were chosen because of their BIPA knowledge, experience and their English language skills. The six students were; Rindang Chairunnisa, Annisa Nurul Firdausi, Syafa Azmi Syakira, Retnowati Setya Dhewi, Diana Sri Suryani, and Ulfathikara.
The activity finished with an orientation by VILTA, that contained an explanation of the schools curriculum in Australia by Maria Obrowski, and Children Protection Law by Silvy Wantania and Mrs. Spica: This is a Pilot Project at the end of 2020 and we hopes that the assistant teacher program from UNY can be an effort to improve Indonesian language learning in Australia, especially in Victoria, as an Indonesian native speakers and spread the mission of introducing Indonesian culture.
In her speech, Dean of FBS UNY Dr. Sri Harti Widyastuti, M. Hum, hoped that this program could continue in the years ahead. UNY is open to wide-ranging cooperation in many other activities.
